An exciting, and sometimes heated, panel and audience discussion occurred today at Kidney Week 2019 on the subject of disruptors in the nephrology market. Major new healthcare players are entering kidney care, bringing perspectives and expertise on technology, big data, and artificial intelligence and integrated payer-provider platforms. These innovators are working to transform the landscape in kidney care. The audience was standing room only and the hour-long question period had a line the entire time.

In a few short weeks, the ASN Foundation for Kidney Research (ASN Foundation) will open applications for its Career Development Grants, Clinician Educator Grant, and Research Fellowship program. The ASN Foundation funds clinical and basic research and provides grant support to ASN members at various points in their careers.

The ASN Foundation Career Development Grants Program provides funding that advances the independent careers of young investigators in biomedical research. Applications will be accepted for the following grants:
