ASN Releases 2018 Annual Report

The 2018 American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Annual Report was released on April 29th, 2019. The report summarizes how ASN has progressed in its goal of leading the fight to prevent, treat, and cure kidney diseases throughout the world by educating health professional and scientists, advancing research and innovation, communicating new knowledge, and advocating for the highest quality care for patients.

The 2018 American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Annual Report was released on April 29th, 2019. The report summarizes how ASN has progressed in its goal of leading the fight to prevent, treat, and cure kidney diseases throughout the world by educating health professional and scientists, advancing research and innovation, communicating new knowledge, and advocating for the highest quality care for patients.

The report begins with a letter from Past President Mark D. Okusa, MD, FASN and current President Mark E. Rosenberg, MD, FASN that highlights some of the top successes of ASN during 2018 and how they correlate tothe five ASN strategic goals. They include:

  1. Lead the kidney community by focusing on education, communications, policy, and collaboration
  2. Transform kidney research through discovery and innovation to prevent, treat, and cure kidney diseases
  3. Encourage every kidney health professional in the world to contribute to, and benefit from, ASN
  4. Foster career development for current and future kidney health professionals
  5. Assert the value of nephrology to health and science professionals, health care systems, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality care for patients
     

The report also contains the complete list of the recipients who received research grants from the ASN Foundation for Kidney Research grants. The Foundation grants awards to foster independent research careers and ensure a pipeline of innovative research in the field of nephrology.
