Members from over 180 countries continue to regularly engage in ASN Communities. In just three years, there have been almost 140,000 unique logins to the Communities. The educational value of Communities was recognized in 2019 by the Kidney Week program committee when they accepted a submission about the international and educational value of Communities. Members helping and supporting each other dealing with complex clinical cases, educational challenges, policy initiatives and more have created an online educational asset that has become a key value of ASN Membership.

The content in Communities has spawned scholarly articles including one by Zeid Khitan, MD and Richard Glassock, MD, both active Community members, who collaborated on a CJASN article “ Foamy Urine: Is this a sign of Kidney Disease ?” that grew out of an interesting and informative post in Communities.
The overwhelming response from members as they engage in posting questions and responding to inquiries has made Communities a destination for practicing nephrologists, basic scientists, educators and fellows. Members also engage with Communities via a dedicated app for both Apple iOS and Android users.
