The ASN Foundation Career Development Grants Program provides funding that advances the independent careers of young investigators in biomedical research. Applications will be accepted for the following grants:

  • The Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant, supporting investigators conducting research in any area of nephrology.
  • The John Merrill Grant in Transplantation, supporting an investigator performing biomedical research related to transplantation.
  • The Norman Siegel Research Scholar Grant, supporting an investigator conducting pediatric research.
  • The Oxalosis & Hyperoxaluria Foundation (OHF)-ASN Foundation for Kidney Research Grant, supporting research regarding oxalosis, primary hyperoxaluria, and related stone diseases.

By submitting an application to any of the above grants, candidates are considered for all Career Development Grant opportunities.

The William and Sandra Bennett Clinical Scholars Program allows applicants to improve their teaching skills by providing them with educational tools to facilitate their teaching and by financially supporting applicants in the completion of a scholarly project. Application proposals may address any aspect of nephrology education, either pre-doctoral or post-doctoral, such as curricular reform or innovations in education. The proposed project must have impact beyond the applicant’s own institution.

The Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship Program supports ten new and ten continuing nephrology fellows for two years in conducting original, exemplary research under the guidance of a sponsor. This program consists of five Ben J. Lipps Research Fellows, one Donald E. Wesson Research Fellow, one George B. Rathmann Research Fellow, one Jared J. Grantham Research Fellow, one Sharon Anderson Research Fellow, and one Dimitrios G. Oreopoulos Research Fellow per year.
