The Transition to Independence Grant and William and Sandra Bennett Clinical Scholars Program eligibility requirements and funding stipulations have been updated. Applicants can now:

  • Be within 10 years of initial faculty appointment at the time of the award activation.
  • Have extramural (NIH, KidneyCure, or other) mentored career development grant funding (e.g., NIH K08). However, total grant funding, including the KidneyCure Transition to Independence Grant, cannot exceed $250,000 in annual direct costs, if there is scientific overlap of the specific aims of the proposal with current funding.

2020 Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Award Highlight

The KidneyCure Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program funds PhD students to conduct original, meritorious research projects. This program fosters early career-stage PhD students, under the direction of a sponsor, who are highly motivated to make contributions to the understanding of kidney biology and disease.

“ASN’s pre-doctoral fellowship has not only supported my research but also introduced me to a community of like-minded individuals passionate about improving kidney health through innovation. Additionally, participating in ASN Kidney Stars and Kidney Week as pre-doctoral fellow allowed me to meet mentors and friends for life,” said Mariia Alibekova, who received the 2020 Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Award.

Research funded by KidneyCure contributes to breakthroughs in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney disease. Women and those who are underrepresented in medicine are encouraged to apply.
