$10 million for KidneyX included in 2020 House Appropriations bill

Announced today during the 2019 inaugural KidneyX Summit, the House Appropriations Committee released the draft 2020 FY funding bill for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS). The bill will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow, April 30th.

KidneyX Summit begins today with announcement of Redesign Dialysis prize competition Phase 1 Winners

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Chief Technology Officer and the American Society of Nephrology have selected 15 winning teams for Phase 1 of the KidneyX Redesign Dialysis prize competition.

ASN Releases 2018 Annual Report

The 2018 American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Annual Report was released on April 29th, 2019. The report summarizes how ASN has progressed in its goal of leading the fight to prevent, treat, and cure kidney diseases throughout the world by educating health professional and scientists, advancing research and innovation, communicating new knowledge, and advocating for the highest quality care for patients.

2019 Global Kidney Health Atlas released at ISN Word Congress

The Atlas found that “by 2030, 14.5 million people around the world will have end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), yet only 5.4 million will be treated due to economic, social, and political factors. Additionally, more than 2 million people will die each year to due to little or no access to hemodialysis or kidney transplantation”.

CMS: Open Payments Pre-publication Review and Dispute Now Available

Pre-publication review and dispute for the Program Year 2018 Open Payments data is available beginning today April 1, 2019 through May 15, 2019. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will publish the Open Payments Program Year 2018 data and updates to the previous program years’ data in June 2019

Physician and teaching hospital review of the data is voluntary, but strongly encouraged. Please keep in mind the following:

KidneyX Scores Major Victories in Congress and Administration

At the urging of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) members and American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) ambassadors’ calls and recent visits to Capitol Hill, a bipartisan group of 57 lawmakers wrote to the House Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Subcommittee asking them to include $25 million in funding for KidneyX.
