Statement from ASN President Rosenberg on new Advancing American Kidney Health Initiative announced today

"The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) applauds the bold vision unveiled today by President Donald J. Trump and by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar, II, in the Advancing American Kidney Health initiative.  Before an audience of more than 500 individuals with kidney diseases, nephrologists, and other kidney community advocates, President Trump signed an Executive Order launching the initiative."

Breaking: HHS announcing rollout of new kidney strategy July 10th

Wednesday, July 10, the Trump administration will announce a new Department of Health and Human Services-wide (HHS) Comprehensive Kidney Care strategy. ASN and other kidney care groups have been working and meeting with Administration officials, including Secretary Alex M. Azar, II, all year providing input and recommendations for inclusion of in the new strategy.

First, to increase efforts at preventing, detecting, and slowing the progression of kidney diseases. Second, to provide more treatment options to people with kidney failure. Third, to increase the number of transplantable organs and develop wearable and artificial kidneys.
