The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) today announced the appointment of Michael Allon, MD, as the first Editor-in-Chief of Kidney360, ASN’s new online journal launching in January 2020.

Funding Bill for NIH, KidneyX Receives Committee Approval and Moves Closer to Finalization

On Wednesday, May 8, the House Appropriations Committee voted to send the House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) appropriations bill to the House floor for consideration. The bill and accompanying committee report provides a total of $189.9 billion in funding, a nearly $12 billion increase over FY 19 enacted levels, and includes a number of priorities of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN).

The 2018 American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Annual Report was released on April 29th, 2019. The report summarizes how ASN has progressed in its goal of leading the fight to prevent, treat, and cure kidney diseases throughout the world by educating health professional and scientists, advancing research and innovation, communicating new knowledge, and advocating for the highest quality care for patients.

Precision Medicine 2019: March Special Section

Kidney News is pleased to present this edition’s special section on precision medicine. The ability to derive diagnosis and care, specific to the individual patient and the exact timing and nature of their disease process, is anticipated to result in a huge leap forward in the efficacy and safety of treatment. A PubMed search revealed more than 50,000 articles about this topic, including more than 1600 articles when restricted to “kidney,” and the rate of new articles is rapidly climbing. It thus seemed appropriate to review this approach with our audience.
