Vicente Sánchez Polo, MD, is head of the renal division at the Hospital General de Enfermedades, Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social, and professor of nephrology at the Universidad de San Carlos, Guatemala. Dr. Rico Fontalvo is president and Dr. Sánchez Polo is president-elect of the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Nefrología e Hipertensión.
